IDE graduates find themselves in a diverse range of employment situations. Many work in industrial product design (either in-house or consultancy), others can be found in design management, architecture and the digital industries. In recent years many have found success as entrepreneurs or have company start-ups: DIY Kyoto, Omlet, Concrete Canvas, Artica Technologies, Robofold, Sticksafe, Takram Design Engineering, Quodpod, Goodwin-Hartshorn, Sprout Design, Haberdashery London and Vitamins Design.
Many alumni have reached significant positions in corporations or the design industry generally: Phil Steeney, PA Consultants; Gus Desbarats, The Alloy; Paul Rutter, DCA Design International; Graham Lacy, PDD Group; Duncan Kerr, Apple; Peter Gammack, Dyson; Laura Taylor, Philips and Markus Hohl, O2 are some examples.
