The Royal College of Art is located in London on Kensington Gore, facing Hyde Park and next to the Royal Albert Hall. Along with a cluster of colleges and museums it forms part of an area now known as 'Albertopolis' – from Hyde Park stretching south to the Victoria and Albert Museum – which owes its existence to the Great Exhibition of 1851. The College also has a purpose-built campus in Battersea, which is being designed to accommodate the Fine and Applied Art departments.
