  • Jason Oliver’s Statement

My work is an ongoing investigation into the state that exists in between sleeping and waking, known as the liminal. It is the place where beliefs, religion and our perception of the world and ourselves exist. I draw from a broad spectrum of interests such as mediaeval alchemical imagery and practice and the ‘arcane’ sciences, through to the study of the body via gender politics and performativity.

Technically, my work examines the relationship between contemporary and traditional print methodology, mainly focusing on the digital print as tactile object and its sometimes uneasy relationship to lithography and drawing practice.
