  • Barton Hargreaves’ Statement

Something has happened and only a trace is left, on sensor or film, or as a physical imprint or mark. This occurrence or happening might be dramatic, such as a car set on fire, or it may be barely discernable, such as a short spell stood still waiting, or treading time on a street corner; they might be actual or imagined. They are often in the form of a physical journey, from place A to place B, or as a segment of time. Themes of being and non-being, renewal, cyclical cycles, temporality, the ephemeral and repetition are used to create the finished works that punctuate my practice.
