  • Daisy Richardson’s Statement

I have been looking at travel, tourism, colonialism, the passage of time and ideas of the unknown in connection with mountains. The mountain has become a metaphor in the work for travel and a vehicle for suggesting ideas about the human condition and living conditions now and in the past. The inclusion of buildings shows the urban alternative for mountains, with the city being represented as a swiftly evolving version of the landscape with societal movement replacing tectonic plate movement. I'm also interested in the idea of bringing the outside inside and the ridiculous inherent in that act.
