    RCA/V&A Conservation

  • Conservation is a future-focused activity. Our students draw on an understanding of the past and project this onto the uncertain future. We offer an experience of conservation practice set in the professional environment of conservation studios and laboratories in major heritage institutions. Our research seeks out values that impinge on the material, cultural, historical and economical character of artefacts, and no avenue is out of bounds. Within this arena the department encourages students to develop independent thought, to question tradition, and to appreciate the ethics of their actions.
