  • Rachel Tomlinson’s Statement

I am a determined designer, curious about everything. I thrive on tackling difficult social and psychological problems that are potentially stigmatic, designing products that can trickle down into the mainstream and benefit all users.

    Poise

Many older people fall and injure themselves, or limit their activities because of the fear of falling.

My work has investigated the actual and imagined physical limits, the emotional anxiety and the social context of falls for an older person.

Poise is the outcome of this investigation. It is a product that allows the older person to understand and reinvigorate their physical confidence and capability, making them healthier, happier and more independent.
