The forced entry of advertising into the collective consciousness has become something of an obsession for me. Although often an unwelcome guest, some of the visual inventiveness of the advertiser has to be admired. Depending on your point of view, ads are an engine of growth in the free market or they place a burden of unnecessary wants on the population. I am both fascinated and repulsed by ads, and by the tension between ethical values and the economic realities of capitalist democracy.

The Ad Bench, Flat Light and Remote Control projects investigate advertising techniques of surprise, juxtaposition and saturation. These ad-objects aim to question our interaction with the images we consume.
