ADS 1: River Thames, bordering the City of London

    Oystergate Walk

The City of London is officially the world’s financial capital. Historically, its river played an important role in establishing its global status as a centre of consumerism and trade. The most common items we consume can be the most effective in measuring cultural shifts. Food – and oysters in particular – reflect the transformation of cheap, widely available items into exclusive ones. The project is located on the north bank of the River Thames bordering the City. It seeks to exploit the river once again and uses the production and consumption of oysters as a critique of the notion of public spaces in the capital.
