RCA Celebrates 175th Anniversary...

9 January 2012 – 2012 marks 175 years since the founding of the Royal College of Art.

The College will hold a number of events throughout the year to celebrate its dodransbicentennial. This will include exhibitions, alumni events in the USA and UK, and the publication of a history of the RCA written by Fiona McCarthy. The RCA offers 24 distinctive programmes across the art and design disciplines, delivered through six integral Schools. MA programmes and MPhil/PhD research are delivered through the Schools, with combined facilities and opportunities for cross-pollination. Sustain: Sustainable art and design at the Royal College of Art

This is the archive site for Sustain, covering exhibitions and talks for 2009–10. For Sustain 2011, including the Sustain Show 22 September – 5 October 2011, see sustain.rca.ac.uk. Sustain is a showcase for the work, issues and arguments that relate to the ever-more-complex arena of sustainability within the Royal College of Art. The RCA offers a unique forum: we can open up and explore issues without the pressure solely to present solutions; and we bring the 'systems'-thinking creativity of cross-disciplinary discussion to the presentation and discussion of sustainable practice in art and design disciplines. Sustainability represents a key emerging institutional need across the creative and cultural industries.
